Threatened Oceans: Damaged Habitat and Plastic Pollution

Easter-Island-Sara-Bayles-plastic-2The coastal waters of Central California are in peril due to a myriad of destructive human actions.  Historical threats have created long-term effects including:  extirpation of keystone species such as sea otters, pollution, and over-fishing. Modern threats include plastic and pathogen pollution, shipping traffic, and underwater noise.

Learn more about the threats to the Central California Coast and exciting conservation strategies for preserving the marine environment, including citizen participation in habitat recovery and protection.

This event is part of the Environmental Forum of Marin’s 2015 Lecture Series.  EFM has been a leading force in educating Marin’s leaders since 1972.
