Arbor Day 2017
December 17, 2017 @ 1:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Join us for our 13th year of partnership with Green Gulch — celebrating all things green and beautiful, from the human heart to the buckeyes, oaks, and redwood trees. Arbor Day was founded in 1872 by J. Sterling Morton, a newspaper editor who became the secretary of the Nebraska Territory. Since then, many millions of trees have been planted by civic groups at Arbor Day celebrations across the country. View a brief pictorial history by the National Arbor Day Foundation.
Arbor Day special schedule
1:30 Ceremony
2:00 Tree-planting and other restorative work
4:30 Refreshments
5:10 Meditation in Zendo (for those who can stay — sweet silence in the cool, dim light)
6:00 Homeward
As always, bring comfortable layers for changeable weather, sturdy shoes, a hat, a water bottle, and gloves if you have them.
To arrange a carpool (the lot gets crowded, and it’s fun to reduce carbon emissions), write to info@greensangha.org
