Stress, mindfulness, and environmental leaders
August 16, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
A mini-retreat in Contra Costa County
Purpose
Building the community of eco-leaders in Contra Costa County — connecting individuals and organizations; sharing tools of effective and sustainable activism
Program
We will begin with introductions and a brief centering exercise.
To start the conversation, Stuart Moody will give an overview of research findings on stress, mindfulness, and leadership. The ensuing discussion will include identifying key challenges and stresses that participants face, and describing coping strategies that they have found useful. Some of those strategies may fall under the rubric of self-care or self-management, others may pertain to planning, motivating, negotiating, and other aspects of communication.
Stuart will offer principles and techniques that we have found useful in Green Sangha, as needed and in complementary relationship to what others present. Which issues and methods we center on will be a function of participants’ needs and goals. So much of our strength as environmentalists lies in our learning from and with each other. Let us know your requests for the evening!
Anne Baker of Generation Green will lead us in a simple self-care exercise toward the end.
Space is limited. RSVP to reserve: stuart@greensangha.org
