Coastal Clean-up Day
September 20, 2014 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Plastic is overtaking our oceans, but we can do something about it! Stop consuming plastic. Don’t accept plastic bags at the store counter. Tell the waiter at restaurants, “No straws, please.” Buy products that come in sustainable packaging. Choose products made of high-quality, sustainable materials, not plastic. AND, come clean our beaches!
Coastal Clean-up Day is possibly the largest volunteer environmental event of the year, and this will be the 30th anniversary of California’s participation. Join thousands of earth stewards of all ages and walks of life, as we clean parks, stream banks, and shoreline (remember, anything dropped on the ground will find its way to the ocean if it’s not stopped or picked up somewhere along the way).
Our Marin County location: McNear’s Beach, San Rafael, 201 Cantera Way. Beach captain: Maeve Murphy (415) 455-9577.
In the East Bay: Emeryville shoreline, next to the Emeryville Fire Station at 2333 Powell St., across from the Watergate Market. For more information about the event from the city of Emeryville: click here

Bring: Bring your own re-usable water bottle (filled if possible), coffee cup, collection bag or bucket, garden/protective gloves, and garden digging-claw. Wear sunscreen, hat, layered clothing and sturdy shoes.
