Preparing Persuasive Talks:
A Simple Model for Effective Presentations

Join organizational consultant Claire Taylor for a hands-on, minds-on workshop that will:

  • Give you a simple framework for making effective presentations––whether a 2-minute speech to a city council or a one-hour slide show on sustainability.

  • Present a model for effective presentations

  • Lead you through the steps––from identifying your audience to setting your goals to organizing your materials in ways that are potent and memorable.

  • Include practice delivering short presentations to each other.

$20 donation requested. Free for Green Sangha volunteers and Rethinking Plastics graduates.

Facilitator: Claire Taylor, M.Ed., has 16 years of experience in helping individuals and organizations in strategic planning and change management.  She is a professional trainer, facilitator, and process consultant with extensive background in education and counseling.  As a consultant in Organization Development, she has worked in the corporate and public sectors, helping organizations work through the processes of strategic planning, change, and expansion. As an Adjunct Faculty member of the Graduate School, USDA, she conducts workshops and seminars in problem solving, customer service, and communication skills training.

Relational Presence:
How to Connect More Effectively with any Audience

Join us Friday, Sept. 17 from  7-9 pm in  San Rafael (exact location and direction tba).

Practice poise – silence in action – when speaking to a group.  Lee Glickstein, founder of Speaking Circles, has helped thousands of individuals become more authentic, sensitive, and powerful speakers.

This 2-hour workshop will equip you with simple rules for placing yourself in the flow of collective intelligence that enlivens every room when a speaker stands before a group.

In my life, desperation to conquer severe stage fright provided me a natural arena to work out this challenge.  Speaking to a group, or even imagining such scenario, choked me with anxiety and dread.  Decades of avoidance, humiliation, and not giving up led me to stumble upon a leadership principle that has allowed me to stand tall and still in the eye of the storm in front of any group:  Listen first.

I don’t speak until I first listen to my listeners.  This takes at least one full breath.  I listen while I speak.  I listen to my words landing.  I listen to the space between sentences, the longer space between paragraphs.  I listen with my eyes, with one person at a time.  My intention is to always be with one person at any time.  This is the practice and priority of Relational Presence that is the basis of my life work.
